Small Ideas come a LONG way...

At the end of December of 2016 I was visiting my family at Mexico for the holidays and had a chance to see all of my relatives at the city of Tepatitlan de Morelos, Jalisco. When doing so I was with my sister at one time at this taco stand (with excellent tacos by the way) when she asked me... "why didn't you plan on coming and playing a recital since you are here?" That sentence hit me in the face as hard as a cheese cake launched by a bazooka. My December visit was just for holidays vacation purposes... but then started shape differently for future recital prospectives.

This all began with a small Idea... "I'll come and give one recital, why not?" When at Tepatitlan de Morelos, I was fortunate enough to be able to meet with the head of art and culture of the city, and after talking to him he showed full support for a recital project. he said to me... "why not a tour through our vicinities?" I thought... "ok, different towns and cities, 3 or 4 recitals". A couple of days later I visited my good friend Everardo Rojas Silva at the city of Lagos de Moreno who is an accomplished musician, the city of Lagos has great support for music and the arts which made me think about how to pitch my project as a professional to get the support I needed. That day I was fortunate enough to be touring the town with Everardo and find outside of Jose Rosas Moreno theater the head of art and culture of the city since he was attending a art dance presentation, once Everardo introduced me and I pitch my recital tour project he then said... "If Everardo recommends you to give a recital then you are welcome to come play for us any time". After this happened it all clicked, my project came to be and I decided to expand as most as I possibly could as a professional pianist. Starting to think only about 1 city and 1 recital, ending in (so far) 6 cities, 8 recitals. Both heads of Art and Culture from Tepatitlan and Lagos were already colleagues at the time who had worked together before and between both of them they will be able to support with recital locations, providing travel expenses from Arizona to Guadalajara (city where the recital tour is to begin on July 18th) and publicity.

I have to thank everyone involved with making all of this possible from people working in the Mexican government, my colleagues from Universidad de Guadalajara, and my family (especially my sister that gave me the initial idea). The world of music is surely a small one, having connections sure comes a long way, knowing how to communicate professionally and being able to network with people in the business of art and culture.

Posted on my events page are 3 official dates for the recital in the cities of Guadalajara and Chapala with links to the sites for historical information on every location. As soon as the next recital locations and dates are scheduled I will post for everyone to save the date. Stay tuned for posts about the tour and more interesting articles to come soon everyone!
