Summer Update

Today I'm posting to talk about my upcoming project which is a lecture recital tour through the state of Jalisco, Mexico for the summer month of July 2017. The recital will consist of classical repertoire and will also have some information about the composer and composition that is performed. My goal is to be able to play at 8 recitals through different cities in the state and providing an engaging lecture recital with excellent piano performance.
Music does not need an explanation, but having an explanation to it can make us have an easier time connecting to it. One of the quotes of my piano professor John Milbauer is.... "There are many excellent performing musicians, but very few of them can stand up on stage and talk adequately". Many of us musicians practice for hours on a daily basis and we are able to perform because of it, but we do not have many chances of talking in front of an audience every day, be it of 20, 50 or even 300 people. Performing an instrument and talking are two very different activities, even when that is said, they also come with much similarities. One of the challenges for me in this project is to have a fun interaction with the audience, anyone can stand up and give facts and information to people but doing it while keeping the audience interested and managing time and repertoire takes planning. It is like organizing a stage play.... What and how will I say this after or before I play this piece?
The first thing I must secure before even thinking of what to say is prepare every single piece performed to be adequate for performance by continuing with quality piano practice (Because without music there is no piano recital, see my previous post for more info "Practice makes.... perfect?") and I shall keep posting updates in regards to the progress as the date comes closer.
So far, I am able to say that at least 5 recitals dates in at least 4 cities are already in works, 3 of them are:
Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.................................. Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo
Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico.................. Teatro Jose Rosas Moreno
Tepatitlan de Morelos, Jalisco, Mexico.......... Parroquia San Francisco de Asis
I will keep everyone updated when dates are official and will bring more project news
coming soon. Click on any of the images above for additional information about each of the theaters presented. Until then better get myself into planning!
